TRY the TriPod™ LT…
Freedom Designs’ newly designed mid wheel drive wheelchairs features:

  • Mid wheel or “drive” wheel position which allows for the hand to naturally fall into place.
  • Large wheel located on the center frame allow for a much tighter turning radius.
  • Conventional casters in front with a trailing caster that acts as a rolling anti-tipper.
  • A tilting frame allows the user or caregiver to maneuver efficiently over small objects & low curbs.
  • Tubing allows for the use of conventional hardware & seating or the standard seat pan allows for easy attachment and removal of the seat cushion.
  • Transport option availability / WC 19 Crash Test Approved.

Consider the Possibilities...

What experts are already saying about the TriPod:

Adrienne Bergen, PT/ATP:
MED Rehab Network Consultant

”Many children find it difficult or impossible to push themselves in a traditional manual wheelchair. This can be secondary to weakness, postural or range of motion limitations, or cognitive deficits. Placing the “drive” wheel under or in front of the shoulder where the hand naturally falls, also places it in the child’s visual field. This is almost impossible with traditional rear wheel drive manual wheelchairs. Front wheel drive manual wheelchairs may work well for the wheelchair rider, but are extremely difficult (nearly impossible) to maneuver outdoors over uneven ground or up and down curbs & steps. A mid wheel drive manual chair designed to place the wheel for easy approach by the wheelchair rider & allow the user or caregiver to tilt the chair back for curbs would be a DREAM CHAIR for most children who use wheelchairs.”

Pam Estler, PT/ATP:
" We serve extremely involved children at a facility where most are on vents and G-tubes. One little boy was in a Kid Kart loaner as we were waiting for maturation to see what he might end up physically doing. He had just started sitting independently at the age of approximately 2 years old. We heard about the TriPod™ at last years Medtrade show, and Charlie from Custom Mobility made arrangements for us to borrow the prototype to try for this client. We had to tilt his seating system a few degrees back on the frame to get more trunk stability, but because of the position of the front wheels & how light & responsive the frame to his hands were, "J.A." was able to start moving the chair immediately!"

" Initially it was just a front to back rocking motion, but by the end of 4-5 days, he was moving it purposefully in a straight line. The physician & medical staff did not realize that J.A. had the cognitive ability to propel a wheelchair. The set-up of the TriPod offered an opportunity for a child to move & to learn that no other set-up could provide. It was very EXCITING & MEANINGFUL for us. You can never assume anything until you give it a try... & the TriPod offers that chance!"
